Tokyo Narita Airport 26 Sep 07
Japan is a fascinating country to visit and Tokyo is a fantastic, if somewhat bizarre, city. Unfortunately, airline crews are exiled to Narita with only Asahi and Karaoke for entertainment! However, a couple of hours with my camera at Narita Airport provided a much needed diversion.
The airport at Narita does provide interesting opportunities for the photographer, with plenty of heavy movements, primarily 747-400s and 777s. JAL aircraft make up most of the movements, and there are also interesting aircraft from a variety of other carriers, from other parts of Asia and further afield.
There are viewing areas at both terminals, which have high mesh fences. Fortunately, the airport authorities, in deference to photographers, have provided holes in the fence, just big enough to poke a lens through, producing some excellent opportunities.
